Ghost River Theatre

Back in 2010 Ghost River Theatre presented The Highest Step in the World as part of the Alberta Theatre Projects’ Enbridge PlayRites Festival - Aldona was ATP’s in-house publicist during this time and had the wonderful opportunity to not only support this incredible show with media relations, but she also photographed the production.

Now fast forward to 2023, where Aldona B Creative has the wonderful opportunity to work with this creative and innovative company once again, this time on the world premieres of STRUCK and Makambe Speaks. We supported GRT with social media content creation and management, as well as a Public Relations campaign for both productions.

STRUCK

Blissfully ignorant, a young man at the tipping point between adolescence and adulthood is struck by lightning, shocking him into a free fall of survival, atonement, and search for self knowledge. STRUCK is based on playwright Eric Rose’s true story surviving a lightning strike while camping with friends on Sudbury’s Long Lake during the summer of 1999. The show explores the lightning strike as both physical and psychic mapping: fractured friendships, leaving home, losing loved ones - looking backward and forward in time from a point of view that can only be perceived in the electrified filament of one's mortality.

Makambe Speaks

Ghost River Theatre and Handsome Alice Theatre came together for the World Premiere of Makambe Speaks, co-created and performed by Makambe K. Simamba, multiple-award winning playwright and actor. Fragments of stand-up comedy, musical theatre and a few other surprises combined in this fantasia of rage, cultural commentary and star-crossed love.
