Blonde Ambition

When I was first able to visit RedBloom after the first lockdown in YYC, I knew it was time to shed some length and start going lighter - I've had super dark locks for a few years now, and I decided it was time to change it up and slowly start transitioning into a blonde hue, also making it easier to upkeep in general - my grey regrowth blends in nicely to this tone, and instead of visting the salon every 5 weeks, I've been able to extend it to 8+ weeks.

After this recent lockdown, I was even more excited to get back to RedBloom, especially as I haven't left my house other than for walks around my neighbourhood in too long to count, and I was itching for some quality time with my amazing hair stylist @jennykaydoeshair. We have so much fun together, that a couple of hours in the salon chair literally feels like 10 minutes.

One of the reasons we've decided to very slowly transition my hair from dark brown to blonde (I'm still not positive about how blonde I want to go, so that remains to be seen) is because I want my hair to remain healthy. When you colour your hair often, as I do, it's easy to lose integrity and I want to ensure that my hair is strong as we move through this process. I use wonderful products when I'm not at the salon, which also really helps in this regard.

I've shared on my Instagram stories already over the past couple of months that I've been using the new Aveda Botanical Repair line, and I have to say it's my favourite product line of theirs to date! I'm not a huge fan of people using something once or twice and then doing a review, especially when it comes to skin and hair care, so I wanted to give this line a solid try. I've been using it for over 2 months and my hair has never been in such amazing shape.

On top of the shampoo and conditioner, the line also includes a strengthening leave-in treatment that I feel has been instrumental in how my hair looks and feels. It also smells amazing!!!
