CHROME Hair Design

February 3, 2017

Over the past couple of years I've had the pleasure of working with Aveda Institute on my ever-changing hair look - my stylist Katelyn was amazing, and we had a great time experimenting, especially with the colour, as I was in the process of growing my locks. During my couple of years with Aveda, I went from short bleached hair, to longer bleached hair, to a super cool but too cool blue/grey, and then back to my fire red. And it was only a few months ago that I decided that it was time to try a darker hue and join the dark side.

That was when I found out that my beloved stylist was going to be moving in the new year, so my mission to find a new salon and stylist began! As many of you know, I love supporting local in as many of my projects as possible. I started street styling over 7 years ago to showcase our city and the lovely and stylish people who reside here, and my styling work really focuses on supporting local boutiques and designers. And thus, it only makes sense to continue that tradition with a fantastic local hair salon.

Enter CHROME Hair Design - in short, the perfect fit for the Street Style Huntress! Not only is the salon perfect, but I've been recommended and matched up with not just one stylist, but two!

Gary Evans (@gary_evans_stylist) recently joined the Chrome team after moving to Calgary from London - he's talented, innovative, and so stylish and cool that I can't believe my luck in being introduced to him. Right upon meeting him, I knew I'd be in great hands. For my colour, I was paired with Jenny Kay (@jennykaydoeshair), and it was also like at first sight with her as well. @chromehair

So, the first appointment...

Due to my crazy schedule and with changing salons, I was a bit overdue for some serious hair love - but boy, was it worth that extra wait!

I went in with regrowth that also now includes specks of silver (eeekkk grandma city!), overall colour that faded and lost a lot of it's richness due to time, and a need for a haircut like there's no tomorrow! Because I've been growing my hair out from a super short cut, I've only been getting periodic trims, and so my style was very simple - blunt bangs, mid-length.

Here's a little before...I kept the toque on, as it was just too insane under there to show you the whole thing...

With the change in salon and stylists, I decided that it was time to finally get back to a stylish and interesting cut - and I mean, Gary!

We started with refreshing my colour, which turned out super rich and shiny - it looks and feels so much healthier, and the tone is perfect for the haircut that Gary recommended and rocked out.

We decided to frame my face with a longer bowl cut - and to say that I love it is an understatement! It's edgy and fun, and I feel like choosing CHROME as my salon of choice was the best choice!

Thank you again Gary and Jen, can't wait to see you again in a few weeks! And to the rest of you, I highly recommend not just my lovely stylists, but the entire salon in general. Their staff is super fun, creative and talented - so go get your hair did!

Oh yes, but before I go, here are a few AFTER photos!!!!!!
