Leading up to my departure for New York Fashion Week, I was excited to see that the predicted weather was to be mild and quite tame - but what's predicted is usually not what ends up happening, which was the case for my first couple of days of #NYFW!
As I mentioned in a post before my departure, I had the wonderful opportunity to partner with some incredible boutiques, brands and designers for all of my #NYFW needs while in New York - but what I didn't plan for, clearly, was a super cold and wet blizzard. So I had to improvise and make the best of the adventure. (Note: I was super envious of Mr. Fabulous and his Sorel Boots and Jacket!)
Thankfully I was semi-ready with my incredible Box & Burrow jacket and a super oversized scarf from The Clothing Bar Boutique that I was able to wrap around myself, which ended up being my saving graces during my time outdoors running from show to show, and to other various New York adventures.
But of course, the problem was that it was freezing inside, yet super warm at the shows.
Ditching my layers on the first day at the Nicholas K and Desigual runway shows (pictured below at Desigual on the super fun floral runway) I was happy to show off my amazing outfit from Crabapple Clothing! I finally found the perfect little black dress, which I've been looking for for a lifetime, and topped it off with a great layering piece - a geometric, black and white vest that has the perfect front facing pockets. I feel like I'll be wearing this outfit a lot now that I'm back in Calgary, just so you're good and ready to see it over and over again.
The dress has an incredible lace detail both on the hem and around the neckline, and I love that I'll be able to wear it more casually (which I had to do here in New York's wet winter wonderland), or dress it up for more formal occasions. The vest is the must-have piece that I've also been looking for, and the black and white will allow me to pair it and layer it with the majority of my closet.
