Travel in Comfy Style

March 10, 2017

Most would agree that the top priority of travel is to do in comfort. As someone who believes that fashion can indeed be comfy, I took on the task of looking and feeling stylishly at ease as I made my way to New York Fashion Week.

While shopping at Purr in Kensington leading up to my departure, the first item I tried on I knew would be the winning travel garment. A super oversized, to the knee knit sweater would not only keep me warm (it was a balmy -23 degrees as I departed Calgary), but it also looked effortlessly comfortable and cool. The dark grey tone is a beautiful shade that is a great neutral, so I was able to play with some colour while accessorizing.

Which brings me to my gorgeous printed scarf from Beyond Scarf! What drew me to this piece are the gorgeous teal and orange colours, and subtle beading and details. I added more colour with my choice of lipstick, which is one of my most recent go-to's - this purple by NYX is to die for!

Because I always love to have a hat option when I travel (who knows what climate change will do to one's do!), I went fora light grey, so that I'd be able to wear it with some other outfits during my NY adventures - and I was so right, as the weather definitely turned on us quickly and the hat saved me from being completely drenched. For ease at check-in, I opt for less accessories and let lipstick and scarf do all of the talking.

I completed my travel outfit by wearing black leather leggings - don't leave home without them - and a bucket bag that was the perfect size for all of my on-flight necessities, which then also turned into my camera bag during fashion week - great size and perfectly versatile for all of my #NYFW needs.

Beyond Scarf: Another awesome local business that I've had the pleasure of recently being introduced to, Beyond Scarf carries some seriously stunning scarves from artisans around the world. Picking just one was tough, but I'm super excited for the beautiful colours and print that I chose for my travels. http://www.beyondscarf.ca

Purr (Kensington): I feel like I don't have a shoot, event or TV segment where I don't try to include something from this lovely boutique. I've been shopping at the store for many years, and I love everything about it. http://www.purrclothing.ca
